What is the opportunity?
As Senior Data Engineer in Insurance Data Engineering Services team within Insurance Technology, you will design, implement, and support Data Engineering solutions and processes in multiple Agile Labs. We are looking for a passionate data management enthusiast with strong data architecture and data engineering skills and leadership, effective written and verbal communication skills, a strong work ethic and a demonstrated capability to multi-task effectively.
This role requires a positive attitude and a willingness to take accountability for results achieved.
Responsibilities
You will develop and maintain the 360 degree view of Insurance client and policy data in Insurance Common Client application. It will encompass the data flow from source data to application database via Real-Time/Batch functions and from application database to interfacing applications via API’s/data queues.
Work closely with agile teams and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements and assist in building data solutions that cater to their needs.
Design, develop and support new and existing batch and real-time data pipelines and recommend improvements and modifications.
Participate in design/code review sessions to ensure all design/code follow industry best practices.
Work closely with Support team to make sure all Applications running in PROD and pre-PROD environments (Cloud, Linux and Mainframe) are working as designed.
Work evenings/weekends as required for deployments and DR testing.
Leverage agile principles and Dev Ops practices. Ensure enterprise standards are followed and aligned to overall RBC guidelines.
Be part of the developer’s community, participate in the continuous improvement and best practices.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
3+ years of practical experience with large enterprise applications as a Java developer
2+ years of experience developing distributed cloud applications (Open Shift, Docker, Azure)
2+ years of working experience with Databases and SQL language, including data modeling, stored procedures and optimization
2+ years of Agile development experience
1+ years using Java Frameworks like Spring (MVC, Security, JPA, and/or Boot)
Experience working with REST API/Micro Services and interface specifications (Swagger/OpenAPI).
Excellent collaboration skills and proven ability to adapt to challenges, coaching and mentoring.
Strong communication, analytical and negotiation skills, including conceptual, requirements interpretation, solution creation and problem-solving abilities
Quick learner on areas you never worked on
Nice to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
1+ years customizing IBM Master Data Management (MDM).
Experience with business transaction, behavior extension and database addition/extension
Working knowledge of JCL/Zeke/OMS
Knowledge/experience on Kafka, mQueue, Maven, Open Shift, Dynatrace, Postman, Service Now, Pager Duty, Apigee gateway, Vault
Knowledge/experience using Dev Ops tools such as Git Hub, Urban Code Deploy, Helios pipeline, Checkmarx, Sonar Qube, Aqua, Jira, Confluence, Mural
Insurance and/or Financial Industry experience
