Position: IT Infrastructure & Network Technician (on-site) | Location ON

JOB SUMMARY

The Infrastructure & Network Technician is responsible for the hands‑on operation, maintenance, and modernization of core IT infrastructure across A.C. Americas and Spectrum Manufacturing. This role is focused on network switching, physical infrastructure, security enforcement, and asset lifecycle management, supporting engineering‑critical environments and ensuring a stable, secure, and well‑documented IT estate. The role is execution‑centric and suited to an individual who is highly organized, methodical, and keen to develop deeper infrastructure and network skills.

NETWORK

& INFRASTRUCTURE (PRIMARY FOCUS)
  • Install, replace, and maintain network switches and associated hardware.
  • Support and operate a Fortinet‑based network environment.
  • Perform structured cabling, patching, labelling, and rack management.
  • Assist with VLAN configuration and network segmentation under guidance.
  • Monitor network health and elevate incidents appropriately.
  • Support infrastructure refresh and end‑of‑life replacement programs.
SECURITY & DEVICE CONTROL
  • Enforce company standards for managed devices.
  • Support removal and prevention of personal device usage on corporate networks.
  • Assist with access control, network authentication, and compliance checks.
  • Asset‑tag, track, and manage all IT hardware.
  • Maintain secure configurations of infrastructure equipment.
ASSET & LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT
  • Maintain an accurate asset register for all infrastructure and endpoints.
  • Track hardware age, warranty, and end‑of‑life status.
  • Manage spare equipment pools to support operationalობრივი resilience.
  • Support procurement and disposal of IT hardware in line with policy.
DOCUMENTATION & OPERATIONAL DISCIPLINE
  • Maintain up‑to‑date network diagrams and infrastructure documentation.
  • Record changes using change management processes.
  • Produce runbooks, checklists, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure documentation reflects the live environment at all times.
AV & FACILITIES TECHNOLOGY (SECONDARY FOCUS)
  • Support standardized meeting room technology where required.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity and basic AV issues.
  • Coordinate with vendors for non‑standard or complex AV work.

AV design and major upgrades remain vendor‑led.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Hands‑on experience in an ITception infrastructure or technical support role.
  • Practical experience working with network hardware and cabling.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (switching, VLANs, IP addressing).
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to perform physical and on‑site technical work.
  • Clear communication and disciplined escalation.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience with Fortinet, Cisco, or similar enterprise networking platforms.
  • Exposure to firewall administration or network security.
  • Experience supporting engineering or technical environments.
  • Familiarity with asset management systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to sit, stand, and Awards for IP for extended periods while performing technical support, installations, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment (e.g., servers, networking hardware, desktop computers, UPS units, tools) weighing up to 25–50 lbs on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, and reach to access equipment in server rooms, under desks, ceilings, raised floors, and wiring closets.
  • Ability to use fine motor skills for tasks such as cable termination, hardware installation, component replacement, and the use of hand tools.
  • Ability to climb ladders or step stools to install or maintain cabling, wireless access points, and other infrastructure.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as server racks, data closets, or under workstations.
  • Ability to visually inspect equipment and displays, including reading small text, indicator lights, and wiring labels.
  • Ability to work in environments with moderate noise, temperature variations, and limited ventilation (e.g., server rooms).
