Position: Oncology Biometrics Statistics Intern - Summer 2026

At AstraZeneca, Biometrics is the function that supports all aspects of early and late-stage drug development, including strategy, clinical trial design, data collection, analyses, data reporting and interpretation to inform the quality decision making in drug projects. The Oncology Biometrics Internship is designed for MSc and PhD students who want to put their academic knowledge into practice. It’s a chance to elevate your professional qualifications at one of the world’s most innovative biotechnology companies.

As part of a global, diverse, and energetic team of Statisticians, you’ll work on real drug development projects and build the skills needed to explore your potential as a future Clinical Statistician. During the four-month internship, you’ll collaborate closely with an experienced statistician on a focused topic from oncology clinical trials, and you’ll also have opportunities to contribute to day-to-day activities supporting ongoing studies.

The AstraZeneca Oncology Biometrics team will help you deepen your understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and develop the soft skills essential to reach your career goals.

  • Pursuing a Master or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience with SAS/R programming
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication (written/oral) and collaboration skills
  • Well-organized with strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy, and conciseness
  • Familiarity with clinical trial design and statistical modeling is a plus
  • Candidates must have an expected graduation date after August 2026.
  • Available to work full-time for duration of the internship
