Overview  We collaborate with major silicon companies to optimise Ubuntu for their latest hardware. As a software engineering manager, you will bring both technical expertise and leadership skills to guide your team. You will lead an engineering team working across the Linux stack—from kernel to GUI—to optimise Ubuntu for cutting-edge silicon technology.

Your role involves engaging with partners, ensuring project milestones are met, and supporting your team's growth. A strong background in software development and technical leadership is essential to challenge and develop your engineers. You will influence company culture, oversee technical delivery, and contribute to strategic planning.
Responsibilities   Lead a distributed team to design and implement optimal Ubuntu integrations for IoT and server hardware.
Collaborate with commercial partners to deliver a high-quality Ubuntu experience.
Mentor and develop team members through coaching and feedback.
Manage commercial engagements and ensure timely project delivery.
Maintain high standards of quality and reliability.
Coordinate with other teams at Canonical on product architecture and roadmaps.
Work remotely with occasional travel up to twice a year for two weeks.
Candidate Profile   

Experience with Linux distributions, Debian packaging, and high-performance server hardware.
Proven ability to work directly with customers and resolve technical issues.
Experience managing or leading software engineering teams.
Understanding of agile development methodologies.
Effective cross-team collaboration skills.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technology field preferred.
