Overview:

The Finance Department Limited (TFDL) specializes in the Strategic Placement of Accounting & Finance Professionals on a Contract or Permanent basis. For over 25 years, TFDL has been successfully servicing a select group of clients, providing them with the best Intermediate-to-Senior level talent in the industry. (BMH3xR1) Our client is a single-family office in the Greater Toronto Area that manages a diverse portfolio of both direct and fund investments on behalf of their stakeholders and a related charitable foundation.

With a complex and growing portfolio, they are looking for an Investment Analyst to support their investment team.

The Investment Analyst will assist the investment team by conducting investment research, portfolio analysis/financial modelling and monitoring portfolio investments.

This role offers exposure to both public and private investment strategies and requires strong analytical and communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with financial research tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the portfolio allocation and investment decision making process by assisting the investment team across both public and private markets with research, utilizing various financial tools and software to gather and analyze information; focus areas will primarily be within funds/managers, but may extend to individual equities, co-investments, macro economic trends/data, and other areas
  • Maintain an asset allocation model and monitor portfolio performance + activity, regularly disseminating the information with key stakeholders and generating reports/presentations as needed; emphasis on tracking developments across private managers
  • Collaborate with the finance team to generate and review quarterly reports across performance, risk, and adherence to the investment policy statement (IPS); support the preparation of board presentations and other documents as required by internal and external stakeholders
  • Review and summarize quarterly fund reports from current and prospective managers
  • Perform related ad hoc tasks as requested
  • Qualifications:

  • CFA or enrolled (asset)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • 1+ year of experience in investments, corporate finance, or a relevant area
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Familiarity with investment research platforms and financial databases
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data visualization tools is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
