Responsibilities
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Bank Reconciliation Specialist to join our Financial Services team on a 3‑month contract. In this role, you will be responsible for reconciling our General Ledger (GL) to actual bank activity, including historical transactions spanning several years. You will work with large volumes of financial data, identify and resolve discrepancies, and help strengthen our overall reconciliation processes and controls.
This is a 3‑month contract position. Hourly rate range $28‑$32 an hour.
Key Responsibilities- Perform detailed bank reconciliations by comparing General Ledger transactions to bank statements and supporting documentation.
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences, including historical items going back several years.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, missing entries, and mis‑postings.
- Prepare reconciliation schedules, working papers, and supporting documentation in a clear, auditable format.
- Collaborate with the broader Financial Services team to obtain information, clarify transactions, and resolve outstanding issues.
- Propose and help implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Communicate findings, risks, and status updates to management in a concise and structured manner. Other projects or duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in bank reconciliations, GL reconciliations, or similar accounting roles.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly around cash, bank, and General Ledger accounts.
- Proven track record working with high volumes of transactions and large datasets.
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, etc.).
- Prior experience resolving aged or complex reconciliation items is a strong asset.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a methodical and structured approach to working through issues.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Comfortable working with large, sometimes messy datasets and multiple data sources.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document findings clearly.
- High level of integrity and professionalism in handling financial information.
