Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has a great opportunity for a Metallurgical Services Manager. The purpose of this position is to lead special processes and metallurgical laboratory operations to ensure compliance with NADCAP, regulatory, and customer requirements. Compensation: $97,000 - $107,138. Vacancy Reason:
Replacement.

Essential Responsibilities

Manage the metallurgical services laboratory and special process specialists in developing, maintaining, and executing special process procedures, lab testing, evaluations and reporting.

Develop, document, and monitor special processes (heat treat, plasma spray, brazing, EDM, welding, and metallurgical laboratory testing/evaluation) to ensure compliance with NADCAP, regulatory, and customer requirements.

Plan and manage preparation for external NADCAP audits, provide support during and after audits, and lead RCCA investigations to address audit findings and communicate them with PRI.

Review and approve internal and external technical plans and related documentation.

Lead special process improvement projects.

Develop, maintain, and update the technical and quality requirements for aerospace consumable products in accordance with applicable standards, drawings and specifications.

Oversee and troubleshoot special process nonconformances and operational issues.

Provide metallurgical and special process technical guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders.

Train, qualify, and audit special process operators and laboratory personnel to validate and maintain their proficiency.

Perform various supporting tasks as directed.

Position Requirements

Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Metallurgical Engineering.

P.Eng. accreditation would be considered an asset.

3-5 years of related experience, preferably in Aerospace.

Experienced in special fabrication processes such as vacuum heat treat, vacuum furnace brazing, electrical discharge machining, plasma spray, thermal spray and resistance welding.

Strong knowledge of aerospace metallurgical material properties, special processes, and related best practices.

Competent in interpreting mechanical drawing, specifications and material/special process standards.

Proficient in developing testing procedures.

Knowledgeable in audit processes & requirements.

Well informed about the NADCAP special process accreditation program.

Competency in RCCA investigations and relevant methodologies.

Skills:

Good communication, management, organizational and presentation skills. Good technical, analytical and troubleshooting skills. Team building, training and development skills. Timely decision making.
