Who Are We Looking For?
Our Ontario transportation team is looking for a Project Director ready to join our growing Canadian Operations in our Markham office. The transportation team works with Provincial, Regional, and local municipal transportation agencies, as well as select contracting partners, on projects including highways, roads and bridges, transit and multi‑modal infrastructure, and transportation planning. We provide integrated transportation services throughout the project lifecycle—from initial policy and business case advice to planning, design, construction administration, and asset management support.
Responsibilities
Successful delivery of highway planning and design projects.
Lead multi‑disciplinary teams for preliminary and detailed design of road and bridge projects for municipal clients as a Project Manager.
Own all aspects of project management from proposal to close‑out, including team, sub‑consultant, budget, schedule, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to intermediate and junior staff.
Collaborate in small and large teams, integrating other engineering disciplines and production staff to deliver high‑quality project deliverables.
Manage staff performance, workload, and professional development.
Promote best practices and leadership in transportation projects.
Support business development through capture planning and leading proposals.
Contribute to the development and execution of the business development strategy for MTO and related clients, enhancing client relationships.
Apply expertise across transportation solutions—including corridor planning, highway and freeway planning and design, green infrastructure, intersection and interchange design, digital delivery, ITS solutions, and highway and bridge rehabilitation and expansion projects.
Qualifications
Post‑secondary degree in Civil Engineering.
Ontario P. Eng designation required (or eligible).
15+ years of experience in planning and design of transportation infrastructure projects, including project management.
Experience working with the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario.
Experience with other highway agencies and municipal transportation clients is an asset.
Experience managing design projects in collaborative models (e.g., Progressive Design‑Build, Alliance, CMGC) is an asset.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven track record in developing, mentoring, and leading professional technical staff.
