Earth Sciences and Engineering specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.

Hatch is currently seeking a Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering Technologist
Student for 4-12 months internship in our Technologies - Projects & Engineering Group, located at our Mississauga head office, starting May 2026. The Projects & Engineering Group at Hatch provides specialized design of a broad range of custom and proprietary technologies primarily in the mining & metals sector.

    As the successful candidate, you will
    :

    Under the guidance of experienced engineers and designers, students will participate in the design aspects of custom equipment and new product development. Students will be required to directly apply and develop knowledge in mechanical design which may include:

  • Modelling and Design with Solid Modelling tools.
  • Perform finite element analysis on various components and systems, including thermal analysis of cooling system elements.
  • Co-ordinate designs with a multi-disciplinary team including structural, mechanical, electrical, process, and instrumentation and controls.
  • Contribute to the design and improvement of various types of mechanical equipment and technologies.
  • Perform calculations for a variety of mechanical systems including machinery components, hydraulic systems, and cooling water systems.
  • Develop prototypes.
  • Become familiar in reviewing fabrication and construction drawings.
  • Improve their technical communication and report writing skills.
  • You bring to the role
    :

  • Are in their 3rd or 4th year of College study in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance.
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have an aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Enjoy taking on new challenges with a commitment to achieving engineering excellence.

  • Compensation:

    Range: $23.00 - $26.00

    At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

    Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
