Position: Jr. Engineering Specialist (Co-op) - May 2026 (16 Months)

Location: Ancaster, ON, Canada (onsite)
Salary Range: $22 – $24 per hour
Vacancy Type: Student position
Schedule: Full-time, Co-op term
Relocation: Not applicable

As our next Jr. Engineering Specialist (Co-op), you’ll be at the forefront of supporting engineering activities and initiatives focusing on the development of new and existing product lines at multiple facilities. This role requires creativity, flexibility and initiative to resolve recurrent issues through the application of resources combined with the gathering and analysis of available data.

  • What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Active participation in the development and implementation of processes, part development and equipment selection / installation.

  • Provide assistance in the recommendation of modifications to tooling, plant equipment and prototypes in development, to permit economical manufacturing; or to meet performance specifications and the requirements of serviceability.

  • Support and participate in production team meetings to review and resolve Quality, Service, Operations, Facilities, Human Resources and Health & Safety issues when required.

  • Be a technical resource and support to the human resources, processes, products and equipment employed within the area to which you may be assigned on a day-to-day basis.

  • Contribute towards meeting the goals of producing quality parts, on-time and at the lowest possible cost.

  • Develop Standardized Work Instructions (SWI)

  • Communicate with the department on a regular basis to keep them well informed of the progress of various tasks and projects

  • Work in compliance with Johnson Electric Canada Quality and HSE policies and procedures.

  • Works in compliance with Johnson Electric Canada Quality and EHS Policies and Procedures, including IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001

  • All other duties as assigned.

  • What We’re Looking For:

  • Third or Fourth Year Engineering student within a Mechanical discipline

  • Able to work as part of a team

  • Good organizational and documentation skills

  • Able to identify, analyze and solve problems

  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and graphing)

  • Experience in 3-D Modeling and 2D manufacturing drawings, preferably Solidworks, is an asset

  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

  • Ability to use modern computer techniques are an asset. Database and data manipulation skills are an asset. (Examples include: python or similar languages, Javascipt, HTML, and SQL)
