CANDU Energy Inc., an Atkins

Réalis company and the Canadian Commercial Corporation (“CCC”), a federal Crown corporation, have signed a contract with Nuclearelectrica S.A. (SNN) to provide engineering, technology and procurement of tooling and reactor components in support of the life extension of SNN’s Unit 1 CANDU® reactor at the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant in Romania. As the exclusive licensee of the Canadian-owned CANDU intellectual property portfolio and contributing its unique expertise to all aspects of CANDU technology, Atkins

Based on our current needs, opportunities are expected to be available starting immediately; positions are full time Technician/Technologist status at intermediate-senior levels.

Your role within the team:
At this time, this solicitation is for the following position, which may be changed to meet project requirements.

Responsibilities (include, but not limited to):

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures and policies.
  • Assembly, repairing and maintaining of nuclear inspection and mock-up equipment.
  • Participate in equipment testing programs.
  • Prepare route sheets and edit documents.
  • Complete prioritized work requests on time.
  • Become a nuclear energy worker (NEW).
  • Be willing to travel to vendor and project sites if required.
  • Maintenance of contaminated nuclear tooling and refurbishment activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, efficient and effective communication (written and oral) and organization skills are essential.

  • The ideal candidate:

  • Diploma of Collegial studies in mechanical technology or relevant technical experience.
  • Working experience between 7 and 9 years in mechanical assembly / testing / repair of nuclear inspection tooling and shop equipment.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Microsoft Word / Excel / Teams / Visio / Solid Works
  • Familiarity with nuclear standards an asset
  • Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate manual skills and dexterity.
  • Knowledge of established engineering design principles and methods.
  • Acts with initiative and independence under limited direction.
  • Have a working knowledge of industrial shop practices.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience an asset.
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics, Swagelok training an asset.
  • Provides recommendations and decisions of sufficient value to have significant impact on the outcome of the entire project or group.
  • Provides technical leadership and input to performance reviews.
  • Demonstrate specialized knowledge and good general understanding of other fields.
  • Able to contribute sound judgement, possesses a keen sense of responsibility, and is reliable within carrying out duties.
  • Competent in leadership situations and delegating tasks
  • Coordinate other technicians on project deliverables.
  • Coordinate manufacturing and RP work when needed.
  • Security Clearance is a requirement for employment. (CANDU & Customer site: OPG/Bruce Power)
