Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Airside Civil Engineer – Airport Project to join our team. This position is based on-site, out of Mississauga.
We are seeking professionals to join our team to help us build one of the most advanced, sustainable and passenger-friendly airports in the world. This position is for a newly created position.
Provides expert advice and guidance throughout the planning, design, and delivery phases of the program, with a focus on civil design and construction, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and technical requirements.
Oversees civil design and construction activities, including the review of designs, submittals, and testing procedures to ensure alignment with project specifications.
Conducts Facility Alteration Permit (FAP) compliance reviews for all proposed renovations, alterations, maintenance work, and new construction projects.
Evaluates alternative technical proposals submitted by contractors, assessing feasibility and alignment with project requirements, and provides recommendations accordingly.
Leads the coordination of civil and structural engineering components of the program, including the establishment of technical goals and performance targets.
Facilitates cross-disciplinary integration by coordinating with architectural and other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive design and implementation across all facilities and assets.
Reviews contractor and designer deliverables to confirm compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
Monitors design-related input throughout the construction phase, including RFIs, shop drawings, material and mock-up approvals, and punch lists.
Prepares and delivers management-level progress reports and briefings on structural design status, key issues, and emerging opportunities.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum:
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
Preferred Requirements:
Relevant professional designation is considered an asset.
Over 7 years of experience in civil/site development, construction, and airport engineering, with a strong focus on airfield pavement structural design and the application of specialized engineering principles.
Solid understanding of traffic, geotechnical, and municipal engineering practices.
Proven experience applying Canadian aerodrome standards (TP312 4th and 5th editions), as well as international standards such as ICAO and FAA, to support design reviews, problem-solving, and the development of engineering solutions.
In-depth knowledge of CSA design codes and standards, including civil construction materials, methods, and industry best practices.
Hands-on experience with engineering design software, including Micro Station CAD, Bentley InRoads/Open Roads Designer 3D modeling, as well as AviPLAN and AutoTURN packages.
Skilled in applying Geometric Design Standards for Ontario Highways and experienced in the planning, design, and construction of transportation systems and infrastructure.
Proficient in various software tools, including Bluebeam and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Knowledgeable in the application of asset management principles for structural systems.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication abilities, with a proven ability to lead and facilitate meetings and workshops involving diverse stakeholder groups.
Additional Information
This position requires work on-site/out of the office 5 days a week.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $81702.24 to $131702.24.
