About the Role:

The Director, Theatre Business Development drives IMAX’s global growth by identifying, evaluating, and securing new theatre partnerships. This role leads financial and strategic analyses to build compelling business cases, negotiates partnership agreements, and collaborates cross-functionally to ensure successful execution. The ideal candidate combines deep financial acumen, commercial savvy, and relationship-building skills to advance IMAX’s footprint in key markets worldwide.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the development of business cases and financial models supporting IMAX’s theatre expansion strategy.

  • Conduct detailed market, client, and location analyses to assess financial viability, ROI, and strategic fit for new opportunities.

  • Partner with regional sales teams to progress prospects through the pipeline—supporting negotiations, presentations, and deal structuring.

  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Theatre Development to ensure alignment on deal terms, compliance, and execution timelines.

  • Present investment recommendations to senior executives, articulating financial rationale, risks, and potential impact on the IMAX brand.

  • Monitor global theatre performance and provide data-driven insights to refine growth strategy and identify new opportunities.

  • Drive process improvements, sales tools, and reporting frameworks that enhance forecasting, pipeline visibility, and decision-making.

  • Represent IMAX at key client meetings, trade shows, and industry events to strengthen relationships and identify potential partners.

  • Lead or contribute to strategic initiatives, partnerships, and market entry plans in collaboration with global business leaders.

  • What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).

  • 10+ years of experience in business development, corporate finance, or strategic partnerships—ideally within entertainment, technology, or media.

  • Proven success in developing and closing complex commercial deals with executive stakeholders.

  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate data into strategic insights.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and cross-functional leadership capabilities.

  • Experience managing global markets and working across time zones.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; SAP experience an asset.

  • Flexibility for international travel (15–25%)
