Description
The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring we maintain compliance with all cross-border shipments and are current on all reporting requirements. This is a permanent full-time opportunity based in our Mississauga office.

Maintain a master list of tariff classifications including supporting documentation for classificationContact secondary suppliers to determine the trade status of purchased productsSupply required paperwork to end-user customers when requiredLiaise with Brokers and Supply Chain to ensure the smooth movement of goods across bordersManage all inquiries and audit requests with CBSA and US CBPRespond to internal and external inquiries regarding classification, duty rates, documentation requirements, or other import-related mattersEnsure data integrity with all electronic filings with brokers and government agencies for shipment activityBe a champion for upcoming and significant changes in cross-border shipment reporting to ensure we maintain our favored trading statusContinuously monitor evolving rules and guidelines with government agencies, assessing the impact on all IKO companies and ensuring we are proactively responding to changes to remain compliantOUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
Minimum 5 years of Customs and Trade operations experience, preferably in manufacturingStrong understanding of the requirements to maintain compliance with all regulatory policies for cross-border shipmentsStrong technical knowledge of Trade Agreements (USMCA etc.) and international customs legislation, compliance, and security practicesProficient working in an advanced ERP environment (preferably JDE experience) along with advanced MSOffice functionalityCertified Customs Specialist (CCS) is an assetEstablished hands-on experience in dealing with Canadian and US customs authoritiesDetail-focused and committed to meeting challenging deadlines and remaining current on all regulatory requirementsDemonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with both external and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance#LI-LS1
