Shipping & Receiving Associate

The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for the acceptance and inspection of incoming shipments to ensure the accuracy of material received. This role tags new material, updates inventory and maintains receiving paperwork. In addition, this role ensuring accuracy of shipments, customer needs are being met and maintaining updated freight costs. Plans load, prepares appropriate shipping documentation, communicates with sales and production, and establishes relationships with vendors.

• Accurately input material data into system and generate tags
• Plan loads based upon customer due date to ensure on-time delivery and maximize use of trucks
• Direct forklift operators to arrange loads for shipment
• Verify shipments for accuracy
• Coordinate Customs paperwork with Customs Brokers
• Prepare packing lists, mill certified test reports, and bills of lading for loads
• Provide freight rate quotes to sales
• Locate and schedule long haul carriers for inbound and outbound shipments
• Expedite shipments as needed
• Maintain good housekeeping and safety standards in finished goods warehouse
• Communicate with sales and plant production management to advise of delivery date or make production changes
• Establish and maintain relationships with long haul carriers, and manage these carriers
• Input inbound freight cost into system.
• Generate appropriate physical bar code tags for material.
• Manage railroad logistics including correct spotting of cars and notifications to the Railroad to pick up empty cars.
• Expedite rail and truck deliveries as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient math skills as demonstrated by passing a pre-employee math test.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Bi-lingual in Spanish/English is preferred but not required.
