Contracts Manager, General Management
The Truck Transportation Manager (TTM) is responsible for the overall safety,
performance, cost, and marketing of the companies trucking operations. The TTM will
determine best practices and will manage all aspects of IOC Trucking activities to
include supporting inter-company trucking requirements, contracting service with
outside trucking customers, as well as contracting with outside trucking service
providers as needed. IOC Trucking concentrates on hauling materials for road and
highway construction projects as well as scrap metal recycling with all hauls typically in
the local area within 150 mile radius.
MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Insures the safe and most efficient operation of the company’s trucking assets.
- · Establishes best practices for measuring, managing, and reporting logistics costs
- (P&L), processes, systems, and tools
- Identifies synergies in logistics between family of companies and develops action
- plans to maximize operational efficiencies
- Negotiates in conjunction with management all road haul contracts and agreements
- Coordinates with in house maintenance team regarding truck fleet operational readiness
- Partners with Safety Leader to ensure outside trucking vendors comply with relevantsafety requirements
- Prepares and issues trucking business reports including key performance indicators (KPI’s) as requested
- Keeps abreast of all industry developments via key trade associations, government contacts, journals, seminars, conferences
- Maintains performance measurements versus key competitors
- Develops a team to manage all aspects of company transportation services
- Develops a process to monitor local road transportation rates to keep competitive in market
- Deals directly with customers looking to contract for hauling service
- Other duties as assigned
Must be familiar with DOT regulations and compliance regarding trucking operations.
- Actively manages risks by ensuring that all related safety processes are implemented thoroughly
- Committed to managing and reducing incident rates
- Trucking transportation experience
- 3-5 years logistics experience
- Minimum 1-3 experience in leadership positions/supervisory experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or 5 years’ experience in similar role)
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
- Job references will be asked for and checked
EXPERIENCE:
- Dump or pneumatic bulk tankers experience
- · Excellent management skills, both of self and others
- · Excellent decision making and problem solving skills
- · Good business and financial acumen
- · Good coaching skills; able to effectively delegate responsibility
- · Ability to adapt to change while maintaining customer focus
- · Ability to interact with and gain commitment from all levels of the organization
- · Ability to build and develop successful teams
- · Proficient in Computer skills
