Overview
We are seeking a Definitive Observation Unit CNA, also referred to as DOU Certified Nursing Assistant, Step-Down Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Progressive Care CNA in our Definitive Observation Unit (DOU). This role involves providing direct patient care to individuals who require closer monitoring than on a regular med‑surg floor but are not critical enough for the ICU in our DOU.
The position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

Location: Mission Regional Medical Center – Mission, TX

- Take and record frequent vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
- Assist patients with bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, oral care, and feeding support.
- Turn, reposition, and assist patients with mobility and safe transfers using proper techniques and equipment.
- Monitor and document intake and output while observing for and reporting any changes in patient condition.
- Support nursing staff in providing high-quality care to patients requiring close observation in a step‑down unit.
Before we go any further, we do have some deal‑breakers. You must have:
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required.
- Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
- Possesses knowledge of medical terminology.
- Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
