JOB SUMMARY:

Primary responsibility is to ensure that all persons have a safe and enjoyable experience while visiting or using the Westmont Park District facilities.

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Recreation, the specialist is responsible for the implementation, management, operation, and evaluation of all aspects of the Ty Warner Spray Park and Backstop Concessions stand. Other duties include: assist at summer special events.

Hours: Generally 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend shifts. Position will begin in March/April
Rate: $18/hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follow and support the personnel policy manual, safety manual, District policies, and attend all trainings as required.
  • Meet the District’s Mission and Vision
  • Responsible for planning, developing, training, scheduling, and operating the District’s Spray Park and Backstop Concessions stand in collaboration with the Superintendent of Recreation.
  • Responsible for training and supervising the part time staff assisting with the Spray Park and Backstop Concessions.
  • Supervise the staff and have consistent involvement at both locations.
  • Regular communication with the staff and renters is required.
  • Meet with and report to the Superintendent of Recreation on a regular basis to share schedules, successes, challenges, needs and observations.
  • Maintain records of attendance, accidents, and injuries.
  • Follow and adhere to cash handling policies and practices of the District.
  • Communicate and coordinate cash handling procedures with the Finance Manager.
  • Prepare a daily routine for the staff.
  • Request and obtain supplies in a reasonable time frame.
  • Keep informed on current trends and make recommendations to the District.
  • Work with the Superintendent of Recreation to ensure supplies and equipment remain in a safe and workable condition.
  • Set up, clean, and restore through staff training at the Spray Park and Backstop Concessions Stand before and after each day.
  • Adhere to the budgeting limits and provide input on budget expense needs.
  • Seek guidance and approval regarding unexpected budget needs.
  • Perform any additional related tasks as required or assigned.
  • With the assistance of the Superintendent of Recreation, recruit, and select part time staff.
  • Essential Functions:

    During an average workday employee may engage in activities that may include, but are not limited to: standing, sitting, walking, driving, bending, twisting and lifting up to 50lbs.

    REQUIRED Knowledge:

    Comprehensive knowledge of facility management. Must possess the ability to speak in public and good written and verbal communication skills. Good computer skills, proficient with Word, Publisher, Excel, Outlook.

    Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma
    • Two years of experience in recreation programming or facility management preferred.
    • CPR and First Aid certified or obtained upon hire.
    • Certified Pool Operator Certification (or obtain within 60 days of hire. District will provide necessary resources for certification).
    • Mandated Reporter training required or be able to obtain within 3 months of hire.
    SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Obey the practical safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the safety program that is pertinent to the activities conducted by the department.
  • Promptly report to Safety Coordinator or member of Safety Committee all unsafe actions, practices or conditions observed.
