Position: Cook
Position Type: Part‑time Contract, Full‑time Permanent
Contract End Date: Part‑time (January 12th, 2027)
Hours of Work: Part‑time (14 to 21 hours per week), Full‑time (35 hours per week)
Compensation: $19.96 – $24.95 hourly

Position SummaryResponsible for preparing and cooking meals at the St Pauls’ Terrace Restaurant for a blended demographic of customers by coordinating, preparing and providing other supportive duties to its daily operations. Ensures safe food handling practices, and provides other duties to promote sustainability, quality food and safety.
Responsibilities- Creates blended menu options that meet the nutritional dietary needs of a diverse adult customer base
- Prepares customized meals for dietary restrictions as needed
- Plans and caters for special social events or business meetings as required
- Inspects food deliveries for quantity and quality, rejecting inferior items when necessary
- Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment daily and reports maintenance or safety needs
- Maintains kitchen equipment, reports to the supervisor about needs of purchase, necessary repairs, and any safety concerns in a timely manner
- Follows safe food handling, preparation, storage, and sanitation standards
- Monitors kitchen environment regularly to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Community College Diploma in Culinary Arts
- Vulnerable Sector Check required
- Full vaccination against COVID‑19 or Medical Exemption Certificate
- One‑year work experience in preparing meals for 35 people or more
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
- Exposure to hot temperatures in the kitchen
- Standing for long periods of time
- Exposure to hot food and beverages
- Exposure to sharp and hot kitchen equipment
