Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean is recruiting an Administrative and Financial Director
.
Designed by architect Ieoh Ming Pei and inaugurated in 2006, Mudam is a flagship institution on the contemporary art scene. We are seeking a committed, skilled, and motivated person to ensure the smooth administrative and financial functioning of the museum. A strong interest in culture and contemporary art is essential.

Mission

The Administrative and Financial Director supervises all central services of the museum, including finance and accounting, logistics and infrastructure, IT, data protection, health and safety, legal affairs, and procurement. You will be part of the executive committee, composed of five members and reporting to the General Director, whom you will also represent in her absence.

Main responsibilities
  • Supervise the museum’s administrative departments (accounting, finance, legal, procurement, etc.) and drive their strategic development in line with the museum’s orientation.
  • Design, structure, and coordinate the annual budgeting process in close collaboration with various departments and under the authority of the General Director.
  • Lead the implementation of financial planning, reporting, and analysis tools to provide a clear and forward-looking view of the museum’s financial situation.
  • Advise the General Director on the optimal allocation of resources to ensure efficiency and sustainability of the institution’s economic model.
  • Oversee the planning, management, and maintenance of the museum’s real estate and infrastructure, ensuring their proper functioning and medium- to long-term development.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with the relevant ministries within the scope of the mission.
Profile
  • The candidate holds a higher education degree (in management, finance, public administration, or an equivalent field) and has at least eight years of successful professional experience managing administrative and financial structures, ideally in a cultural, museum or public environment.
  • With strong expertise in finance and budget management, the candidate demonstrates excellent service orientation, a proven ability to work in teams, and to manage multidisciplinary departments. Accustomed to complex environments, they master both formal and informal institutional interactions and demonstrate discretion and diplomacy.
  • The candidate possesses excellent leadership qualities, a developed sense of initiative and the ability to formulate strategic proposals aligned with the museum’s mission. They will quickly adapt to the specific environment of a contemporary art museum and understand its artistic and public challenges.
  • Excellent command of French and English is essential; knowledge of German or Luxembourgish is an asset.
  • Finally, the candidate fully embraces the values of public service and the common good, embodying them through a management style that is rigorous, caring, and committed.
We offer
  • A position of responsibility within a leading cultural institution.
  • A stimulating work environment and committed team.
  • A permanent contract with attractive remuneration and additional benefits.
