Position: Direct Support Professional Village N.W. Unlimited We serve individuals who have disabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience working with adults with disabilities is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Maturity and the ability to be a positive role model for persons served will be considered key qualities for employment.
PURPOSE:Through the development of a strong personal relationship with persons served, provide opportunities for their growth and maintain an atmosphere which promotes purpose, privacy, and dignity.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Conduct hourly bed checks if working overnight.Develop and maintain a positive personal relationship with each person served, parents/ guardians of persons served, and co-workers.Responsible for the quality of home life, total home climate, and physical condition of the house.Acquire an understanding of the needs of each person served and the team plan designed to meet those needs. Provide timely and proper documentation of programming and related concerns.Assist and teach persons served to care for themselves in daily living tasks and social skills areas.Perform and assist persons served with personal hygiene and grooming needs.Responsible for the transportation of persons served.Support the Mission and Values of Village Northwest Unlimited.Assist in ensuring effective and efficient operation of the residential programs by performing tasks as assigned by the Residential Leader.Maintain regular attendance.Meet standards of accurate completion of required documentation.PHYSICAL
JOB REQUIREMENTS:Lifting: A two person lift is required an average of 8 times per shift . The average weight per lift is 50 pounds.
Standing: Due to the range of activities that are required, the ability to stand for an 8-hour shift is necessary.
Other requirements as needed: Pushing, Pulling, Twisting, Kneeling, Light Cleaning (reaching, bending, vacuuming, etc.), Fine Motor Skills, Limited Repetitive Motion
Visual/Auditory requirements: Ability to adequately interact with staff and persons served
11-7 Shift In addition to the duties listed above, staff may be required to reposition persons served during sleep.
