JOB SUMMARYThe post holder will work with the Medical Director and the Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide the best quality services to adults with a primary diagnosis of mental illness in long-term complex care settings. The post-holder must understand and implement the mission, vision and values of the organisation.
This is a 1-year Fixed Term position with the possibility of extension.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe Consultant will provide medical leadership as Responsible Clinician to a multidisciplinary clinical team, within a shared leadership framework in which all MDT members work together. The multidisciplinary team will include Resident doctors, psychologists, occupational therapist, and pharmacist. Others are co-opted at various levels when needed; speech and language therapist, social worker;
Podiatrist.
The Consultant will be a senior member of the company, being part of the clinical governance committee and other operational committees as necessary and will have the opportunity to take on specific leadership roles in some aspect of clinical service delivery.
The consultant will also be supported by Specialty Doctor, and dedicated admin time for both clinical admin and any admin related to leadership roles they are involved with.
The post-holder will be expected to proactively support the requirements of Clinical Governance and to have responsibility both individually and with colleagues for the general management of the clinical service. This will include dealing with complaints, information governance, identifying and reporting critical untoward incidents, clinical audit, fostering clinically effective and evidence-based interventions and good quality care to patients.
The post holder will:
- Facilitate, promote and supervise education, clinical practice and audit.
- Contribute to Quality Governance and attend relevant clinical meetings.
- Identify and contribute to others’ clinical training needs.
- Ensure the promotion of issues of equality, diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation.
- Ensuring that the MDT assesses all patients by completing a thorough history, mental state examination, case formulation and physical examination.
- Responsible for ensuring the completion of necessary CPA, Managers Hearings and Mental Health Tribunal reports in conjunction with the MDT.
- Attend and chair enhanced Care Program Approach meetings, clinical reviews, Managers Hearings, Mental Health Review Tribunals and other clinical meetings considered appropriate.
- Provide treatments in line with current guidelines and best practice and review medication and manage monitoring protocols.
- Assessment of service user needs with emphasis on collaborative working.
- Working with service users and their families and carers, building upon their strengths and abilities.
- Assisting in access to a range of rehabilitation therapies and using community resources, vocational training and employment opportunities.
- Ensuring monitoring and treatment of comorbidities in conjunction with the primary care services.

- Liaise with all members of the MDT, GP’s, relatives and other professional agencies.
