* Job Description:
**** A vacancy for Microwave Instruments Verification and Validation Engineer has arisen within the Microwave Instrument Engineering department (TSEOM6) based in Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid)
The postholder will be responsible for the definition of development, verification, qualification and validation of active and passive microwave instruments for current and future Earth Observation space missions. This includes passive microwave radiometers (total power and synthetic aperture), synthetic aperture radars (SAR), altimeters, scatterometers, reflectometry and any innovative technique related to Earth observation by means of a microwave particular the candidate will be engaged to the one or several of the current running programs in Airbus Defence and Space.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
In particular, the postholder duties will include:
* Technical coordination of instruments qualification and verification activities
* Conduct TRL analysis for instruments and their building blocks
* Conduct development risk analysis for instruments and their building blocks
* Define instruments model philosophy
* Define the design, development and verification approach, on-ground as well as in-orbit, for the instruments
* Define instruments qualification approach
* Establish instruments Design Development & Verification (DD&V) plan
* Establish instruments tests plan
* Support to Satellite and Mission DD&V after instrument integration onto satellite upon request
* Support definition of EGSE
* Generation of Verification Control Documents (VCD) of the instruments and their sub-units
* For instrument functional and performance tests: + Establish Test Specifications + Manage Test Procedures + Participation in tests campaign + Manage Test Reports
* Establish Electrical Ground Support Equipment use cases
* Support the definition of the In Orbit Commissioning plan
* Interface with Airbus customers and participation in different review meetings
* Participation in the elaboration of proposals for future Earth Observation active and passive instruments / missions
SKILLSWe are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience
* Educated to degree level in electric / electronic / RF engineering or physics
* 5-10 years of experience in remote sensing microwave instruments development
* Languages + Spanish:
Fluent Spanish would be valued as a plus + English:
English must be at negotiation level, written and spoken + French, German are desirable
* Strong knowledge of either active or passive microwave instrument concept (SAR, altimetry and /or radiometry)
* Knowledge of ESA program phases and development cycles
* Experience in requirements management with DOORS
* Familiarity with passive / active microwave remote sensing techniques such as SAR’s and experience in developing and using performance analysis models and tools are desirable
* Knowledge of space systems, active and passive antennas, RF engineering and standard electrical interfaces
* Experience on RF measurements on flight equipment using specific RF equipment
* Experience on the definition of a verification and validation campaign
* Able to effectively work within small teams as well as working autonomously
* Able to work in one or more projects managing the workload
* Experience in working in project and/or team environment is desirable
* International experience is considered an asset
* Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for satellite development and testing, such as ECSS, MIL-STD, and CCSDS.
