ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Electronics Technician, Maintenance I applies basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions, performs such tasks as replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment; and taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes and amplifiers. This person works under close supervision receiving technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician.
Work is checked frequently for accuracy.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- The Electronics Technician, Maintenance maintains repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); personal and main frame computers and terminals, industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices.
- Will be required to possess a good understanding of basic electronic theories and techniques and familiarity with standard electronic components.
- The successful incumbent applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
- Reports to the site supervisor and will be required to perform electronic circuit analysis and mathematical calculations typically encountered in the fabrication, maintenance, modification, and repair of electronic systems.
- Must be qualified to operate; maintain; repair; and modify complex state-of-the-art electronic, electro-optical, and electro-mechanical equipment.
- Must be able to walk steps and work in high areas.
- Tracker towers are outside and up to 50’ off the ground. Performs operations and maintenance of Data Collection Systems used to support Eglin, AFB test missions and to accomplish maintenance and mission support objectives, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of assigned systems/equipment at Test Site C-7 and on Test Area C-72 at Eglin, AFB.
- Additional responsibilities include administrative, logistic, and quality control duties.
OTHER DUTIES: Other functions include assisting in the orientation and training of other technicians at this level when directed by the supervisor. Will perform general housekeeping and other job-related tasks. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a technical or service school graduate in electronics. Requires manual dexterity necessary to perform repairs and modifications to small assemblies such as integrated circuit boards.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: May perform work assignments in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Some tasks and assignments such as the installation; operation; and maintenance of mobile systems, aircraft systems, or range instrumentation will require work performance in outside environments in heat or cold with exposure to the conditions typical of various work locations.
