What We Do

At Leading Educators (LE), we know that excellent teaching is the most important driver of student success. The moment a student steps foot in the classroom, their opportunity to learn depends on how prepared their teacher is to translate complex content knowledge, standards, and their knowledge of that student into lessons that help them learn deeply and apply their thinking to the real world.

That’s a big lift, and it often happens alone. As a national nonprofit, we partner with school systems to overcome persistent instructional challenges, foster intentional collaboration and adult learning by design, and ignite new possibilities through systemic solutions at the intersection of teaching, talent, and technology.

We work shoulder-to-shoulder with educators at every level of the education system to strengthen their instructional and leadership practices, bring a vision for excellent instruction to life with consistency, and ensure every student reaches their full potential.

Through direct support, strategic advising, innovation pilots, and best‑in‑class research, we help educators work toward a future where every student is ready to thrive. Learn more about our work at leading educators.org.

Position

Imagine being the architect of transformational literacy instruction within your assigned district or portfolio. As the Director of Implementation, Design, and Coaching for Science of Reading, you'll lead the charge in reimagining how secondary students engage with complex texts, strengthen their comprehension, and develop disciplinary literacy skills that prepare them for college, career, and life. This is not a behind‑the‑scenes role—you're on the front lines, working directly with teachers, coaches, and leaders to translate evidence‑based literacy research into classroom reality.

You'll own the full implementation lifecycle for adolescent literacy initiatives in grades 6–12, from strategic design through measurable impact. This means designing cohesive professional learning experiences that shift instructional practice, delivering coaching that moves the needle on student outcomes, and managing complex, multi‑school projects with precision and clarity. You’ll serve as the primary content‑relationship owner for district partners, leading strategic conversations that matter and ensuring every initiative stays aligned to district priorities and rigorous outcomes.

Leading Educators is looking for a leader who thrives at the intersection of content expertise, instructional design, and systems thinking. You'll collaborate with internal teams, manage concurrent projects, and develop the capacity of others—all while maintaining unwavering accountability for results. If you’re energized by the challenge of building sustainable literacy systems that transform how students read, write, and think, this role is calling you.

Do you have expertise in…

  • Secondary literacy instruction across grades 6–12, including deep knowledge of reading comprehension, disciplinary literacy, writing instruction, and Science of Reading research and best practices?
  • Designing and delivering professional learning that strengthens teacher practice and translates into measurable changes in student outcomes?
  • Leading complex implementation efforts across multiple schools or at the district level, with proven ability to manage scope, timelines, and quality standards?
  • Providing coaching and feedback to school and district leaders that builds their capacity to lead instructional improvement and sustain change?
  • Building relationships and partnerships with district leaders and school‑based educators, where trust and clear communication drive collaborative problem‑solving?
  • Translating strategy into action by breaking down complex priorities into clear project plans, milestones, and accountability structures that teams can execute?
  • Designing with intention, crafting professional learning experiences and coaching interactions that are coherent, rigorous, and deeply aligned to district context and…
