Position Title:
Visiting Assistant Professor – Neuroscience
The Neuroscience Program at Hope College seeks applicants for a one‑year visiting assistant professor position, beginning in Fall 2026. Primary teaching responsibilities include Introduction to Neuroscience (and associated labs), Functional Neuroanatomy (and associated labs), with the possibility of an additional course in the applicant’s area of specialty. The expected teaching load is four lecture or laboratory courses per semester.
Program OverviewThe Neuroscience Program is interdisciplinary, drawing perspectives from biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, nursing, philosophy, and psychology. Students receive in‑depth training across the cellular/molecular, systems, and behavioral/cognitive levels of neuroscience. The program has four tenured or tenure‑track faculty and one non‑tenure‑track teaching faculty.
Qualifications- Minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant field of academic study related to neuroscience courses.
- Commitment to all aspects of Hope College’s mission as a liberal arts college, grounded in ecumenical Christian aspirations and inclusive excellence.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and support the holistic mission of the College, including how faith, liberal arts, and inclusive excellence shape teaching, scholarship, and mentorship.
The position requires frequent sitting or standing, use of computers, printers, and copy machines, occasional moving of items over 10 pounds, and frequent movement between offices or buildings. Effective communication abilities are required. Reasonable accommodations may be requested for temporary or permanent conditions.
