Position

The Neuroscience Program at Hope College seeks applicants for a one‑year visiting assistant professor position beginning Fall 2026.

Primary teaching responsibilities:
Introduction to Neuroscience (and labs), Functional Neuroanatomy (and labs), with potential additional course in the applicant’s specialty. Expected teaching load: four lecture and/or lab courses per semester.

Program Overview

The Neuroscience Program is interdisciplinary, integrating biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, nursing, philosophy, and psychology. Students receive in‑depth training at multiple levels—cellular/molecular, systems, and behavioral/cognitive. The program currently has 4 tenured/tenure‑track faculty, 1 non‑tenure track teaching faculty, and is expanding.

Qualifications

Successful applicants must hold at least a master’s degree in an appropriate field related to the courses covered in the Neuroscience Program.

Physical Demands

This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods; use of office machinery such as computers, printers, copy machines; occasional movement of items over 10 pounds; frequent movement between offices/work spaces/buildings; and effective communication.
