Prince of Peace Lutheran College is seeking a full-time Secondary Teacher for a 12-month fixed term contract, teaching across Legal Studies, Humanities (HASS) and Business Studies.

Prince of Peace Lutheran College is a K-12 co-educational, independent, Christian school located in the north-western suburbs of Brisbane. The College was established by the Prince of Peace Lutheran Congregation in 1984 to provide quality Christian education to the children of the community.

Prince of Peace Lutheran College offers classes on two sites from Kindergarten to Year 12 with approximately 650 students enrolled. The Junior Campus (K-6) is located at Rogers Parade West, Everton Park. The Middle & Senior Campus, 1 km away at Henderson Road, Everton Hills was opened in July 2009 and is home to Years 7-12.

POSITION OBJECTIVES

The teacher at Prince of Peace Lutheran College supports the mission and ministry of the College as he/she competently teaches and pastorally cares for students within the College.

Working within a collaborative and well-resourced faculty, you will:

  • Teach Years 11-12 Legal Studies, Years 10-12 Business Studies and Years 7–10 Humanities (HASS).
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that build real-world understanding, strong thinking skills, and student confidence
  • Use calm, consistent classroom practice and positive relational approaches to support learning and behaviour
  • Differentiate to meet a range of learning needs and provide timely feedback that helps students improve
  • Contribute to pastoral care and the holistic formation of young men within a faith community
  • Participate in the College’s co-curricular, camp and retreat programs as required
  • Support and model the values, traditions and mission of Lutheran Church.

The Teacher will promote the mission of the College by:

  • Being committed to promoting and celebrating the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially through the ministry and mission of Prince of Peace Lutheran College;
  • Working closely with, and being guided by the College Pastor in spiritual matters;
  • Focusing on nurturing the individual gifts of students and staff in the community and promoting harmonious, synergistic relationships;
  • Promoting educational excellence in all aspects of school life (curricular and co-curricular);
  • Personally modelling the values of Lutheran Schools: love, justice, hope, compassion, forgiveness, courage, quality, humility, appreciation, service;
  • Maintaining harmonious relationships and resolving conflict with others.
  • Fostering the development of a learning community through collaborative and servant leadership.
  • Assisting the Head of College in setting the tone of the College: one which is orderly, industrious, respectful and harmonious.
  • Exercising effective management and administration to facilitate the educational process.
  • Investigating areas of concern, problem-solving and in collaboration with the Head of College initiating policies and action to enhance the educational and spiritual mission of the College.

    2. Professional Development

    · Maintain Teacher registration

    · Participate in Staff Development Sessions and Staff Meetings, as required;

    · Participate in the Professional Learning Plan process and collaboratively work towards developing a Professional Learning Community.

    3. Curriculum / Learning and Teaching

    · Meet College/Department requirements for unit and lesson planning, work programs, scope and sequence charts within the required timeframe;

    · Meet College/Department requirements for assessment, examinations, reporting and evaluation;

    · Meet College and legal requirements for students with special needs;

    · Maintain up-to-date knowledge and application of Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) processes…
