Theological Education Consultant
Facilitate theological education in partnership with and in support of the bible schools of our partner churches in South Asia. This role can be itinerant or based in the Asia-Pacific Regional Hub in South Korea.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain awareness of the bible schools' basic operational information (# students enrolled, # of graduates, programs and degrees offered, # and qualifications of faculty, budget, etc.) and provide this information to field, regional, and global leaders as requested
- Work with the bible school's Management Committee Chairperson in the areas of curriculum development and accreditation
- Coordinate with the Field Team/Committee to insure that work with the bible schools aligns with the OMS strategic framework and action plan.
- Visit the bible schools as circumstances allow and communicate with the bible school leaders at least quarterly through conferencing technology for prayer, encouragement, and coaching.
- Coordinate with the TE department, other OMS departments, and external ministry partners to assist the bible schools in accessing the best available resources for teaching, governance, and other areas of development
- As needed and requested, teach at the bible schools in a way that is culturally appropriate for leaders ministering in global church contexts
- Assist schools to become sustainable and self-supporting within the partner church's denominational context.
- Encourage schools to stay committed to the Wesleyan ethos and heritage of OMS and our partner churches.
- Assist administrators, faculty and students of the bible schools in pursuing further training and advanced degrees, as needed
- Serve as an advocate and prayer champion for the bible schools, keeping their needs before the larger OMS community
- Perform other duties as required by mutual discussion with the Field Leader and Asia-Pacific Theological Education Coordinator.
- MA or MDiv minimal
- Earned Doctorate in an area of Theology preferred
- Cross-cultural ministry experience (preferably in the Asia-Pacific)
- Sound biblical doctrine and commitment to Wesleyan Holiness theology, in conformity with the Articles of Faith of One Mission Society
- Experience in classroom teaching, and preferably experience in university or seminary administrative work
- Pastoral experience
- Administrative and organizational skills
- Ability to relate well to national and missionary leaders
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to define and analyze issues, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Facility with one local language in region, or commitment to acquire competency in one language is preferred
This is a support-based position that involves raising financial support through ministry partners for salary and other expenses.
