Key ResponsibilitiesThe Community Development Coordinator role is a highly involved, dynamic, and multifaceted position. The responsibilities listed below reflect the range of the position’s day-to-day duties, though every project (and community or organization) is unique.
Project Management
Support Project Managers with project tasks as assigned.
Set up project folders and ensure they are maintained and organized in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
Actively participate in project meetings with clients.
Participate in weekly internal meetings.
Business Development
Support business development efforts by monitoring and assessing RFPs, participating in discovery calls, and drafting proposal outlines and first draft narratives.
Public Engagement
Develop Community Engagement Plans to guide all engagement activities.
Draft survey and focus group questions.
Participate in interviews and focus groups to take notes when requested.
Assist the Project Manager with content development for public engagement activities such as interviews, focus groups, visioning sessions, and online activities using tools like Social Pinpoint.
Support Project Managers as necessary during in-person engagement events.
Summarize all community engagement input to draft Public Input Reports to be shared with the client.
Strategic Planning & Research
Lead project research efforts by collecting and reviewing existing plans and studies, collect quantitative data from public (e.g., U.S. Census) and proprietary (e.g., ESRI Business Analyst, Social Explorer, JobsEQ) sources.
Conduct and document desktop research, as necessary, on a variety of topics such as: preliminary identification of assets and challenges, and events and trends relevant to the project focus areas or community.
Perform and document initial quantitative analysis to be reviewed by and discussed with the Project Manager.
Set up outlines for project deliverables.
Support Project Managers with the development of data-driven project deliverables (e.g., presentations, public input reports, community assessments, market analyses, strategic plans, funding roadmaps).
Peer review project deliverables when requested.
Funding Strategy & Grant Support
Research and compile potential funding opportunities for projects.
Review specific funding opportunities to confirm feasibility and alignment with project needs.
Assist the Project Manager with the development of funding resource roadmaps.
Provide grant writing support and post-award coordination when necessary.
