Provides advanced library support work involving standard library practices and procedures. Inputs and maintains Library records and Library card information. Performs support work in the circulation, reference, and youth departments. May assist in Children’s programming. Answers telephone and responds to general inquiries about Library operations, events, schedules, etc. Assists Library customers with the public computers, printers, faxing, and other technical help.
Works on special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
- Ability to readily learn library tasks; perform customer service and clerical duties; understand and follow oral and written instructions; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with Library guests and City employees.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Some experience in general customer service or Library environments preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be directly related to the foregoing specific requirements may be substituted.
- Absence of non-prescribed controlled substances in the applicant’s system as verified by a laboratory approved by the City of Winter Haven.
- MUST BE ABLE TO WORK A FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE INCLUDING EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS.
- Must have the physical ability, strength, and flexibility to perform the essential job functions in the work environment.
