Philanthropy Officer, Major Gifts at the Scott Mission

The Philanthropy Officer, Major Gifts will play an important role in supporting Scott Mission’s transformative work. In this role, you’ll help expand relationships with donors, learning how to develop a portfolio of individuals, foundations, and corporations. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Philanthropy, Marketing, Ministry, and Operations to help create meaningful donor experiences that connect their passions with our mission. This is a great opportunity to grow your skills in fundraising and philanthropy while contributing to work that truly matters—every single day.

Why This Opportunity is Different:

  • Meaningful Work: Every day, you'll contribute to a mission that provides hope, transforms lives, and serves the most vulnerable in our community; connecting donors to our life-changing programs–shelter, food, daycare, counselling, summer camp, and more. Your work will have a tangible, lasting impact.
  • Collaborative Environment: You'll work hand-in-hand with our Development Team and collaborate across Philanthropy, Marketing, Ministry, and Operations groups. We believe in teamwork and shared success.
  • Values-Driven Culture: The Scott Mission is a Christian organization committed to servant-leadership, fostering a truthful, forgiving, approachable, joyful, and healthy environment. We are looking for individuals who share our faith and values.

Who You Are:

  • Proven Relationship Builder: You are passionate about building relationships and have an interest in major gift fundraising. You have an understanding of mass, mid-level, and legacy giving.
  • Exceptional Communicator: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic Mindset: Interested in collaborating with the team to develop a fundraising strategy.
  • Ethical & Compliant: Some knowledge of fundraising regulations and ethical standards (AFP guidelines, Donor Bill of Rights, CRA, and CCCC guidelines).
  • Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge, Engaging Networks) and strong Office 365 skills.
  • Experienced Professional: Relevant post-secondary education and some professional experience working with customer service or fund development.
  • Faith-Driven: A clear commitment to live out your Christian faith and agreement with the Statement of Faith of Scott Mission.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of major gifts through donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with Philanthropy, Marketing, Ministry, and Operations to design meaningful donor experiences.
  • Work with colleagues to expand relationships with donors, foundations, and corporations.
  • Assist with creating fundraising strategies in alignment with organizational goals.
