Job SummaryA critical member of the Specialized retail network, the Store Manager balances excellence in retail operations with a passion for the power of a great brand. The Store Manager maintains the culture of the business, sets the tone of the store, and works collaboratively with staff, retail partners, and local riders as a host, mentor, brand advocate, and customer service ace.
This role also works cross‑functionally with other members of the Specialized team to facilitate store‑based events passionate about education, product launches, advocacy, and brand innovation.
- Drive overall profitability of the retail store, covering and exceeding run costs to maximize contribution to the company’s topline revenue.
- Exemplify outstanding methodologies for staff and local operators.
- Ensure transformative, inclusive, ride‑focused, locally authentic experiences for staff and riders alike.
- Host and give tours of the space to retailers, explaining our processes for outstanding methodologies.
- Manage performance and talent of all current employees, fostering a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive workforce through recruitment.
- Schedule staff and shift coverage in the showroom.
- Educate all staff through in‑house training, SBCU, and facilitation.
- Build and sustain client relationships based on data about their preferences, behaviors, and purchases.
- Uphold cleanliness and organizational standards for the sales floor and office space.
- Manage special orders and home deliveries, ensuring timely delivery.
- Provide leadership and direction for staff when the manager is absent.
- Evaluate employee performance and address issues arising in‑store among riders, staff, and the service/sales interface.
- Set goals with each member of the team that include development, store‑wide goals, and larger company initiatives.
- Operate within the set rules of Specialized Retail LLC, ensuring alignment with company practices.
- Experience and passion for cycling and the Specialized brand.
- Current or former retail experience, 1+ years preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with riders and team members.
- Availability to work weekends and adapt to business demands.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as walking, kneeling, reaching, and lifting at least 50 lbs.
- Bike shop experience a plus.
