The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) is a 27-bed cardiac and medical critical care unit. We specialize in pre- and post-operative cardiac care, cardiomyopathy patients requiring mechanical circulatory support, heart failure and post-MI cardiology patients, IABP, Swan-Ganz, CRRT, TTM, DKA, Pacemakers, Severe Sepsis, and Respiratory Failure.

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Director, or Executive Director, the Supervisor Nursing / Charge Nurse - CICU is responsible for overseeing daily clinical operations of the CICU to ensure safe, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care. This role includes clinical supervision, leadership, planning, coordination, and staff support, while upholding professional standards of nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and regulatory bodies.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Strong clinical background in ICU nursing with recent hands-on experience
• Proven leadership experience as a Charge or Relief Charge Nurse in an ICU setting
• Passionate about staff development, patient outcomes, and nursing excellence

Core Responsibilities

• Provide clinical supervision and support to nursing staff during assigned shifts
• Ensure appropriate staffing, patient assignments, and coordination of care
• Respond to and manage emergent clinical situations with sound judgment
• Assist in onboarding, mentoring, and evaluation of nursing staff
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for patient care planning and discharge
• Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI), audits, and staff education
• Maintain unit compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• California Registered Nurse (RN) License - active and in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association
• At least 2 years of RECENT ICU experience in an acute care hospital (excluding clinical rotations)
• Charge Nurse or Relief Charge Nurse experience in an ICU setting
• At least one professional certification in a related specialty (e.g., CCRN) upon hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
• Additional leadership experience or formal management training
