Resident Care Worker

Mission Services of London is a non-profit social service agency dedicated to serving residents of London and Middlesex County with compassion and dignity. Rotholme Family Shelter of Mission Services of London has an opening for a full time Resident Care Worker.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To provide resident care in the daily operations of this emergency shelter for up to 20 families. This will include interaction with residents, staff, the general public, and volunteers. This role will also assist with community referrals, completing housing applications, VI-SPDATs, and other forms.

Qualifications:

• Post-Secondary Education/Training in Human/Social Services.
• Experience in a social service position, preferably an emergency shelter.
• Knowledge and ability to work with women, men, families and children in crisis.
• Physical mobility and stamina for some kitchen and housekeeping tasks in a two-story building.
• Current First Aid/CPR and CPI training.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Familiar and skilled in HIFIS.
• Effective verbal and written skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently as staff of a Christian based social service agency.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of the Housing First philosophy.
• Ability to make sound judgments and decisions.
• Interested in organizing and implementing family friendly activities on an ongoing basis for families in shelter.
• French, Spanish, and Arabic language skills are an asset.
