At AM General our Quality Interns support vehicle manufacturing operation by assisting with activities aligned to the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO and IATF requirements. The roles provide multi-faceted exposure to supplier quality, compliance, and product inspection and process verification across the manufacturing lifecycle. The intern supports documentation, monitoring, and verification of quality requirements from incoming supplier materials through in-process controls and final product release, while collaborating cross-functionally with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to support conformity to customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards.
PRINCIPLEDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of vehicle paperwork process.
- Skillset acquired- attention to detail, time-management, lean to identify incorrect or missing details and follow-up to resolve discrepancies, organization, compliance.
- Review various forms of data and make educated recommendations for improvement.
- Skillset acquired- data entry accuracy, practical problem-solving, prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.

- Develop proficiency in identifying key inspection areas, learn purpose and structure of CVIS to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards

- Gain a clear understanding of existing workflows.
- Assist with Audits.
- Assist vehicle acceptance coordinator with day-to-day issues that arise on the floor.
- Inspect vehicle paperwork associated with lotting trucks and performing inspections.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, with junior or senior standing preferred
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Exposure to or a basic understanding of ISO/IATF preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Ability to clearly and accurately document technical and quality‑related information.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional, production‑focused environment.
- High level of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Interest in quality systems, program management, production processes, and vehicle integration.
- Sight: must be able to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner, including regular use of adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Hearing: must be able to regularly hear well enough to communicate
- Hand‑Eye Coordination: must be able to regularly coordinate one’s eyes with one’s fingers, wrists, or arms to move, carry, or manipulate objects or to perform other job‑related tasks
- Manual Dexterity: must be able to regularly make quick, accurate, skillful, and coordinated movement with hands and arms to grasp, place, move, or use objects such as phone, computer, and other office equipment, tools, or controls
- Agility: must be able to regularly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, or legs to perform job tasks, including the ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, Company’s property surrounding facility, or additional work areas
- Climbing / Kneeling: must be able to occasionally climb, kneel, bend over, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, with balance
- Lifting: must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds with or without assistance
- Physical Strength: must be able to occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry objects using hands, arms, back, abdominal muscles, shoulders, legs, or a combination of these muscle groups
