Switchboard Operator

Job Description

Effectively operate a console-type switchboard and/or provide information and assistance necessary to maintain communications of the Medical Center through telephones, paging, alarms and radio. Provides answering service for all of SJPN, SJVNA and other physician offices.

Shift: Rotating Shift

• High school diploma required, with business classes preferred.
• Experience in answering multi-line phones and customer service preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge desired.
• 4 to 6 weeks of training required.

Essential duties include exchanging information on factual matters, analytical ability to gather and interpret data, greeting visitors, explaining hospital policies, and/or relaying messages to appropriate personnel. Requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors, and hospital associates.

Assigned hours within your shift may change based on departmental and/or organizational needs.
