South Bend Orthopedics is looking for a Physical Therapy Technician. The candidate will assist the Physical Therapist with patient care, perform administrative duties and clean/maintain the therapy area. No prior experience necessary.
Responsibilities- Performs job responsibilities in a manner that supports the goals of the clinic.
- Assists therapists with treatment of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Discusses daily treatment of patients with therapists prior to patient work.
- Informs therapist of patient response to treatment, including need for progression and adverse reactions.
- Assists with patient transfer as requested by staff within occupational and physical therapy departments.
- Answers telephone calls to the department – takes messages, provides information and transfers calls as needed.
- Prepares and maintains work area in a neat and orderly fashion; completes daily, weekly, monthly cleaning responsibilities.
- Receives and stores linen; maintains adequate linen supply.
- Maintains adequate medical supplies; performs weekly inventory and orders supplies as needed.
- Maintains a professional demeanor toward patients, visitors, staff and employees.
- Develops and maintains communication skills essential to interact professionally with employees and customers.
- Demonstrates knowledge of safety, universal precautions, fire evacuation, emergency care and disaster policies.
- Assists in orientation and supervision of therapy volunteers and student technicians.
- Completes assigned clerical duties such as filing patient charts and prepping charts for the next day.
- Monitors patient safety including rudimentary surgical precautions under PT/PTA supervision.
