Summary

Responsible for safely and efficiently transporting oversized agricultural equipment/machinery to farms, fields and storage locations such as hopper bins, seeders, cultivators and fuel tanks. This involves operating various types of vehicles, including trucks, trailers, specialized farm equipment carriers and loaders, while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations. The position also performs tasks like loading and unloading equipment, securing loads, and basic maintenance of transport vehicles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operating trucks and specialized trailers to haul agricultural machinery, ensuring safe loading, securement and timely delivery.
  • Loading and unloading delivered machinery, using proper techniques and equipment to prevent damage.
  • Performing thorough pre-shift inspections of the truck, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, and safety equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Adhering to all DOT (Department of Transportation) safety regulations and traffic laws including weight limits, hours of service; and, company policies regarding vehicle operation and cargo securement.
  • Maintaining accurate delivery records, completing necessary paperwork including bills of lading and manifests, and reporting any incidents or discrepancies.
  • Utilize maps, GPS, and other tools to determine the most efficient routes for transporting equipment, considering road conditions, traffic and weight restrictions.
  • Position will be responsible in winter months for snow removal at various locations during winter months and off season for transport.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
  • Required Qualifications
  • History of safe driving with minimal traffic violations.
  • Proven experience in operating heavy vehicles, particularly trucks and trailers is essential.
  • Adhere to all applicable environmental, safety, health, and operations procedures and directives.
  • Some familiarity with various types of farm machinery is preferred, including machinery operation and safe handling procedures.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in loading, securing, and transporting equipment to prevent damage or accidents.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues that may arise during transport, such as traffic delays or mechanical problems.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with internal co‑workers and customers.
  • Adherence to use of required personal protective equipment including safety toed shoes.
  • Education Requirements
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    License Requirements and Endorsements
    • Class A-CDL

The employee must occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. The employee must be able to stand for 12 hours a day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
