Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform meter proving tasks on Coriolis, Positive Displacement, Turbine, and Ultrasonic Flow Meters
  • Operate and understand the function of Small Volume Provers and Pipe Provers
  • Ensure measurement and quality control practices comply with custody measurement requirements, device calibrations, and product quality assurance standards
  • Promptly and accurately perform measurements, complete required paperwork, and distribute copies daily
  • Perform mathematical calculations associated with meter proving, analyze meter performance, and review analytical data to assist in accurate measurement
  • Verify that all equipment is in good operating condition and that calibration is accurate, current, and clean
  • Operate and maintain a company vehicle and tools in a safe and efficient manner
  • Operate and move (pulling/backing) a gooseneck proving trailer
  • Maintain regular communication with office staff regarding job status, problems, and concerns
  • Interact with customers and co‑workers at a professional level
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns
  • Use software including PROVEit and Excel to complete measurement and reporting tasks
  • Apply knowledge of flow meters and meter provers in daily operations
  • Perform crude oil custody transfer procedures including sampling, density and temperature measurement via hydrometer, and ticket writing
  • Apply API Standards and Recommended Practices to ensure accurate measurement
  • Perform work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrate and maintain a working knowledge of Watco Safety and Operating Principles
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 1+ years of liquid measurement experience in the petroleum industry OR a minimum of two years of advanced technical education/experience in instrumentation, electronics, or measurement applications, regardless of industry
Skills & Abilities
  • Depending on location and workload, may require driving moderate distances
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work extended or abnormal hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) when needed to meet business commitments
  • Able to make repairs and/or perform measurements in the field under adverse conditions
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations, including some nights and weekends
  • Able to handle emergencies, including possible exposure to an explosive environment
  • Able to work in inclement weather conditions (including snow, rain, and cold)
  • Able to work in dirty/greasy equipment and able to work with hot equipment
  • Organized and self‑motivated
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Consistently demonstrates a positive and professional attitude
  • Must be coachable, punctual, reliable, honest, and transparent
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem‑solving skills and technical aptitude
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi‑tasking team

Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations
  • Valid state driver’s license
