Responsibilities
The CNA in surgery works under the direction of the director of surgical services, the unit manager of surgery, the assistant manager, charge RN and / or the nursing supervisor. The OR Nursing Assistant is responsible for the safe transportation of the surgical patient, and caring for the surgical patient, including those in the patient population served. The CNA performs a variety of cleaning, housekeeping, restocking and ordering functions for the Surgery Department on a daily basis.
The CNA staffs the Central Core on a daily basis providing support for supplies needed in Surgical Suites. As needed, may assist in receptionist, secretarial, and requisitioning functions for the department, to include the maintenance of the surgery schedule through computer logging/scheduling and assisting in maintaining the communication function of the control desk. May provide the Operating Room with continual updated surgery scheduling information and will assist with special projects as necessary.
and Certifications Required
- Current North Dakota CNA certification required.
- BLS required within 60 days of hire.
- Certification required. Clerical training preferred.
- Preferred past work experience, but not required.
- Experience and skills in OR nurse assistant roles preferred.
- Must be able to follow written procedures for care of patients and department. Must know proper lifting techniques and how to handle special equipment for Surgery. Must be able to follow verbal directions.
- Prefers computer skills/ understanding of Excel/ Microsoft word, ability to run graphs.
