Position Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays an essential role in supporting high-quality patient care. Working under the direction of the Nurse Manager and the direct supervision of an RN or LPN, the CNA assists patients with daily living activities, comfort measures, and mobility needs while consistently promoting dignity, independence, and safety. This role is an important part of a collaborative, supportive care team, contributing to a compassionate care environment through careful observation, timely reporting of patient changes, and clear communication with nursing staff.
By supporting individualized care plans and organizational standards, CNAs help ensure patients receive consistent, attentive, and patient-centered care.
- Safely transport patients to and from radiology departments, ensuring proper body mechanics, adherence to transport protocols, and support for mobility-limited individuals.
- Assist patients in transferring to and from beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, and imaging tables while maintaining patient dignity and preventing injury.
- Support radiology staff by preparing exam areas, helping position patients as needed, and communicating patient needs or concerns to technologists and nurses.
- Perform clerical tasks including greeting patients, managing basic scheduling needs, answering phones, and supporting office workflow as assigned.
- Protect patient confidentiality by following HIPAA guidelines and maintaining professionalism during all interactions within the radiology environment.
- Respond promptly to changing priorities, urgent transport needs, and workflow adjustments while maintaining safety and efficiency.
- Licenses and Certifications
Required:
Certified Nursing Assistant certification required from state of ND; BLS within orientation period - Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred - Experience Requirements: 6 months CNA experience preferred
- Special Skills or Training Requirements:
Body mechanics, Transferring and lifting techniques, Transport Protocol, Confidentiality/HIPAA, IVAC operation - Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities
- Physical Requirements:
The role requires frequent walking, pushing and pulling transport equipment, lifting, bending, and assisting with patient transfers throughout the hospital. CNAs in radiology must be able to safely lift 35–50 pounds independently and more with team assistance. Physical stamina, rapid response to patient needs, and the ability to maneuver stretchers and wheelchairs through hospital corridors are essential. - Environmental Requirements:
Work takes place across multiple clinical areas, including radiology suites and inpatient nursing units, with routine exposure to patients of varying mobility, medical equipment, and hospital environmental conditions. CNAs may encounter bodily fluids, disinfectants, and imaging-related technology and must adhere to strict infection-control, safety, and radiation-area protocols. The environment is fast paced and may require managing multiple simultaneous transport requests with professionalism and attention to detail.
