IIA has a rare opportunity in our A2LA accredited Metrology Lab in Minnetonka, MN for a Senior Inspector / CMM Programmer to join our team.
Since 1986, our lab in Minnetonka, MN, has provided story‑worthy service to customers around the globe who are involved in new product development, product validation, process validation, third‑party validation of their supply chain, and failure analysis (FMEA). Our capacity and capabilities allow our customers to weather the dynamics of the supply chain and human resource fluctuations. We maintain an ISO 17025:2017 accreditation for Mechanical Testing, as well as ITAR Registration and provide AS‑compliant testing services.
We support all industries; and are specifically set up to support highly regulated industries such as Medical Device, Aerospace, and Defense.
The Senior Inspector / CMM Programmer will perform and oversee dimensional inspections using advanced metrology equipment including CMMs, Optical CMMs, and hand tools. This role ensures compliance with industry standards and customer specifications, supports continuous improvement, and mentors junior staff. Our Metrology lab is a fast‑paced environment, requiring the Senior Inspector / CMM Programmer to use creativity to solve complex problems.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct dimensional inspections using touch probe and optical CMMs, comparators, and hand tools.
- Program and operate CMMs using PC‑DMIS software.
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI), Gage R&R, and capability studies.
- Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and ISO standards.
- Maintain accurate inspection documentation and calibration records.
- Perform source inspections and on‑site inspections as needed.
- Ensure compliance with A2LA and ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized lab environment.
- Train and mentor junior metrology staff.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in precision inspection using touch or vision CMMs and manufacturing (e.g., machining, molding, assembly).
- Proficiency in PC‑DMIS programming software (5+ years’ experience).
- Experience with Hexagon PC‑DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, OGP Zone 3, Measure mind, Smart Profile, and Solid Works preferred.
- Strong understanding of advanced GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
