This position administers the provisions of the State Plumbing Code by providing plan review and technical assistance on documents submitted for new construction, additions to, and alterations of plumbing systems for all building types except single family homes, two family homes, townhomes, and multi‑family homes with 4 or fewer dwellings. The code review requires determining if the proposed work complies with the Minnesota State Plumbing Code, referenced standards, administrative provisions of the Minnesota Building Code Chapter 1300, and the principles and practices of common engineering to protect the health and safety of the people of Minnesota.
Minimum Qualifications- A Structural or Mechanical engineering degree from a 4-year accredited college.
- Knowledge of engineering principles associated with technical and engineering review of planning, design and construction, permitting, compliance evaluation and enforcement of applicable rules.
- Ability to read plans and specifications sufficient to identify code inadequacies and analyze and respond to specific code application inquiries on the telephone and in writing.
