The Inventory Control Specialist (Stockkeeper) is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking supplies, parts, and materials for Metro Transit departments and facilities. This position maintains accurate inventory records by following established procedures for requisitioning, receiving, labeling, storing, and issuing materials, including hazardous items. Duties include organizing and maintaining the warehouse, verifying shipments, identifying priority deliveries, and ensuring materials are properly issued using inventory management systems and scanning tools.
The role also involves operating material handling equipment and may include driving a box truck for deliveries. Employees must provide customer service in retail or wholesale environments and ensure compliance with safety standards. Work schedules and locations are assigned based on seniority and may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and multiple sites. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, two years of relevant inventory experience, a valid driver’s license, and obtain forklift certification within six months.
