Job Summary** The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
To be considered for the first round of interviews, applications must be submitted by March 19, 2026. Additional interviews may be conducted for vacancies not filled in the first round of interviews. 1 position working out the Roseau Truck Station.

Day to day work may include, but is not limited to:
- Assisting in maintaining the roadway surfaces and shoulders
- Debris removal from roadways, right-of-ways and roadsides
- Assist with traffic control in high volume traffic settings/flagging
- Roadside mowing, trimming and landscape maintenance
- Assist with installation and repair of signs and guardrails
These positions are anticipated to run from approximately April 22, 2026 - October 06, 2026. Applicants with shorter terms of availability may be considered.
Regular summer hours for these positions are 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications- Must have written and oral communication skills sufficient to keep records, read and interpret directions.
- Must have the ability to perform heavy manual labor work sufficient to complete assignments This includes bending, liftin, digging, reaching and loading heavy materials.
- Ability to perform work in indoor and outdoor environments, including heat, cold, rain and wind.
- Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.
- The position requires a valid Class D Driver's License at the time of application. This must be included in your application or resume when applying.
The physical demands of this job will vary but typically requires the ability to lift 100 pounds maximum with frequent moving and/or lifting or otherwise transfer of objects such as 50-pound bags. This job also may require walking or moving or standing or sitting to a significant degree on rough terrain or may involve sitting most of the time with pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.
