Job Summary

This role involves planning and conducting practice sessions, developing players' skills, and instilling values of sportsmanship and teamwork.

Junior High Coach - Cass Lake-Bena Schools, ISD 115

Part-Time, Seasonal

Stipend - Level 6 - $1,758 - $2,105

Reports to the Head Coaches

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions focusing on skill development and physical conditioning.
  • Teach fundamentals, including proper techniques.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture.
  • Manage team logistics, including scheduling practices, matches, and transportation.
  • Monitor and evaluate player progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Ensure all players understand and adhere to the rules and regulations of the sport.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and ensure it is in good condition.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and the athletic department.
  • Foster academic success and personal growth in student-athletes.
  • Uphold the school's values and ensure the well-being and safety of all team members.
Administrative And Communication Duties
  • Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and the athletic department regarding schedules, expectations, and team needs under the direction of the head coach.
  • Help ensure all team members meet academic and eligibility requirements under the direction of the head coach.
  • Manage rosters, attendance, schedule, and budget, including ordering uniforms, equipment, and supplies under the direction of the head coach.
  • Understanding of Google Suite for administrative duties is preferred.
  • Uphold school student and athletic policies.
Working Conditions
  • Must be available for after-school practices, evening games, and occasional weekend events.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions during outdoor events/indoor events.
  • Physical ability to demonstrate techniques and participate in physical activities.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of fundamentals and techniques.
  • Previous coaching experience, preferably with high school/junior high athletes.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Commitment to promoting academic achievement and personal growth.
  • First aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required.
