Position OverviewNorthern Tier is seeking a maintenance technician responsible for maintaining facilities and related plumbing, electrical, mechanical and/or HVAC systems equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations. The maintenance technician performs skilled trades work, such as carpentry or painting in the construction, repair, or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs, or office fixtures. This position also makes periodic or special inspections on the premise to determine the repair work necessary and may work from blueprints, drawings, or rough sketches.
Position is onsite and requires you to possess a U.S. Passport. The maintenance technician reports to the Manager, Support Operations.
- Uses detailed instructions, safety standards and procedures to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and facilities.
- Complies with the appropriate permits, regulations, licenses, and certifications.
- Works with or supervises contractors and seasonal staff.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of:
Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical equipment, facility structure, carpentry, painting, repairs, and construction alterations; safety regulations and procedures to include OSHA, NFPA, and building codes; hand tools, power tools, specialized equipment; and preventive maintenance practices and procedures. - Skill in:
Identifying and fixing equipment malfunctions; maintenance and repair of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting; performing routine inspections and tasks; communicating effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and contractors; maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities; prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines; analyzing situations and making sound decisions; and collaborating with colleagues and contractors. - Ability to:
Use tools and equipment safely and effectively; lift and carry equipment, climb ladders; identify and address minor issues before they become problems; provide courteous and professional service to building occupants; and take initiative and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
High School Diploma or GED equivalency preferred.
Qualifications- Minimum of 1 year of experience in facility maintenance or a related field (e.g., construction, electrician, plumber).
- Must pass a criminal history background check and driver’s license check.
- U.S. Passport.
- Must be able to legally cross the U.S. Canadian Border.
- Specific certifications may be required in specialized skills or trades.
- Valid state driver’s license.
