The Sales Agronomist will develop key relationships within our trade area of focus. They will manage all sales opportunities and develop a plan with each key customer to grow our footprint of sales, communicate closely with our sales team to deliver consistent messaging, and ensure focus with growers. They will champion new opportunities, bring plans for additional value, and bring new ideas for potential grower sales.
Education and ExperienceA college degree is preferred. A focus on agronomy is needed. 5 years of experience in sales and agronomy is preferred. Working history in agricultural chemistry, seed, or related industry preferred.
Skills Needed- Strong integrity and excellent verbal and written communication skills to work with the sales team, customers, and vendors efficiently.
- Strong agronomic knowledge and ability to sell various agricultural products including drainage tile, chemistry, nutrition, seed, and services.
- Self-starter, hardworking, and entrepreneurial. Excellent time management and problem-solving skills. Willing to identify and call on current and potential customers.
- Strong critical and analytical thinking abilities. Strong business acumen with a working knowledge of market trends and behaviors. Be able to deliver exceptional customer service to all our customers.
They will work closely with VP of Sales and sales team to develop a plan to deliver on annual sales goals, outline key customers, negotiate better opportunities, and make monthly calls on-site. They will create a personal sales plan that is presented to the manager. This plan should include goals by customer and how those results will be achieved. Also responsible for generating sales reports and forecasts.
Execute sales plan with customers, fellow employees, and vendors. They will map out a plan for a profitable business with key areas for growth. They will work closely with key customers and prospects, and position top agricultural products to assist them according to the developed plan.
They will meet with suppliers, manage relationships, understand key products to help grow our Barrett Agri business, and monitor product flow and forecasts to maximize net return.
