The position will be filled in the framework of a highly prestigious Finnish Centre of Excellence in Space Resilience (CoE), which focuses on space conditions, particularly space weather, and the improved use of sustainable space. The successful applicant will conduct research in the modelling of the radiation environment in the atmosphere and near-Earth space for different conditions, including extreme solar events.
The duties will include:
- You will be an active member of a multidisciplinary research group working on cutting‑edge research in the framework of the CoE.
- You will perform advanced modelling of the near-Earth radiation environment for different conditions.
- You will closely collaborate with other group members working on the cosmic‑rays, magnetospheric, ionospheric and climate modelling.
- You are expected to write and publish scientific peer‑reviewed articles in high‑level journals and present the results at scientific conferences.
- You will perform necessary graduate studies and complete and successfully defend a doctoral thesis on a topic related to the CoE at the end of the period.
